About me
Hi, I’m Nicole Joch, the creator behind Nicole Joch Media and a senior at the University of South Carolina–Columbia, where I am majoring in Visual Communications with a minor in Film and Media Studies.
My interest in visual storytelling began in high school, where I intentionally filled my schedule with photography, graphic design, and other related courses. Those early experiences allowed me to develop technical proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Lightroom while discovering a genuine passion for the creative process. As a freshman entering UofSC into the exciting field of Visual Communications, I expanded my skill set across photography, videography, digital design, UX/UI, and multimedia storytelling that ultimately shaped me into a versatile, jack-of-all-trades communicator.
Throughout my time at UofSC, I have applied my skills in both academic and professional settings. As a magazine designer for The Daily Gamecock, I strengthened my layout design and collaborative abilities in a publication environment with other like-minded students. Simultaneously, my role with the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce evolved from Graphic Design Intern to Social Media Intern, where I gained hands-on experience in content creation, strategy, public relations, and marketing communication. This transition sparked my passion for the intersection of design and strategy. I aspire to build a career as a well-rounded communications professional, someone who can seamlessly integrate design, digital media, branding, and strategic messaging to create meaningful and impactful work.
